Spicy Korean Jajang Tofu (짜장두부)
짜장두부 (Jjajang Tofu) is a popular Korean Chinese dish that combines the rich and savory flavors of jjajang sauce with the lightness of tofu. This dish is perfect for those who enjoy a bit of spice in their meals.
Ingredients
- 1 block of firm tofu, cut into cubes
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup jjajang sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tablespoon gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes)
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
Instructions
- In a large pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
- Add the tofu cubes and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
- Push the tofu to one side of the pan and add the jjajang sauce to the other side. Cook the sauce for 1-2 minutes to release its aroma.
- Stir the tofu and sauce together, then add the water and gochugaru. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in the chopped green onions and sesame oil.
- Serve the spicy Korean jjajang tofu hot with steamed rice.
