Spicy Korean Jajang Tofu (짜장두부)

Ingredients

  • 1 block of firm tofu, cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup jjajang sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes)
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Instructions

  1. In a large pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the tofu cubes and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Push the tofu to one side of the pan and add the jjajang sauce to the other side. Cook the sauce for 1-2 minutes to release its aroma.
  4. Stir the tofu and sauce together, then add the water and gochugaru. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped green onions and sesame oil.
  6. Serve the spicy Korean jjajang tofu hot with steamed rice.
