Spicy Masala Dosa
Spicy Masala Dosa is a popular South Indian dish made with a crispy rice and lentil crepe filled with a spicy potato filling. It is a delicious and satisfying meal that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 cup rice
- 1/2 cup urad dal (black gram lentils)
- 3 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped
- Salt to taste
- Oil for cooking
Instructions
- Rinse the rice and urad dal separately and soak them in water for 4-6 hours.
- Grind the soaked rice and urad dal to a smooth batter. Ferment the batter for 8-10 hours.
- For the potato filling, heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and green chilies. Sauté until the onions are translucent.
- Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and mashed potatoes. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add salt and chopped coriander leaves. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Heat a non-stick pan and pour a ladleful of the dosa batter. Spread it in a circular motion to make a thin crepe. Drizzle oil around the edges and cook until the bottom is golden and crispy.
- Place a portion of the potato filling in the center of the dosa. Fold the dosa over the filling and serve hot.
