Spicy Misal Pav (मिसळ पाव)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups mixed sprouted lentils
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 3-4 green chilies, chopped
  • 1/2 cup mixed farsan (spicy snack mix)
  • 4 pav (bread rolls)
  • 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Water as needed

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add asafoetida, green chilies, and onions. Sauté until onions turn golden brown.
  2. Add tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft and the oil separates.
  3. Add the sprouted lentils and mix well. Add water as needed to achieve the desired consistency. Simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Adjust the seasoning and garnish with coriander leaves.
  5. To serve, place a pav in a plate, top it with the misal, and garnish with farsan and chopped onions.
