Spicy Mutton Curry
Spicy Mutton Curry is a classic dish from Tamil Cuisine that is packed with bold flavors and aromatic spices. This rich and hearty curry is perfect for a comforting meal with family and friends.
Ingredients
- 500g mutton, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, pureed
- 1/4 cup yogurt
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 3-4 green chilies, slit
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tbsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1/4 cup oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large pot and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, and sauté for a few minutes.
- Add the mutton pieces and cook until they are browned on all sides.
- Stir in the tomato puree, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Cook for 5-7 minutes.
- Whisk the yogurt and garam masala together, then add it to the pot. Cook for another 5 minutes.
- Pour in 2 cups of water, cover the pot, and simmer for 45-50 minutes or until the mutton is tender.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or naan.
