Spicy Mutton Curry

Ingredients

  • 500g mutton, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 3-4 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large pot and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
  2. Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, and sauté for a few minutes.
  3. Add the mutton pieces and cook until they are browned on all sides.
  4. Stir in the tomato puree, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Cook for 5-7 minutes.
  5. Whisk the yogurt and garam masala together, then add it to the pot. Cook for another 5 minutes.
  6. Pour in 2 cups of water, cover the pot, and simmer for 45-50 minutes or until the mutton is tender.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or naan.
