Spicy Mutton Curry (Kasha Mangsho Surprise) is a traditional Bengali dish that is known for its rich and aromatic flavors. This dish is a perfect blend of tender mutton pieces cooked in a spicy and flavorful gravy, making it a favorite among mutton lovers.
Ingredients
- 500g mutton, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3-4 green chilies, slit
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 teaspoons red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 4-5 tablespoons mustard oil
- Salt to taste
- 2 cups water
Instructions
- Heat mustard oil in a deep pan and add the chopped onions. Saute until golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies. Cook for a few minutes until the raw smell disappears.
- Add the mutton pieces and sauté on high heat until they are well browned.
- Reduce the heat and add turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook for a few minutes.
- Pour in the water and cover the pan. Cook on low heat until the mutton is tender.
- Sprinkle garam masala and cook for another 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and serve hot with steamed rice or paratha.
