Spicy Mutton Curry (kasha Mangsho Surprise)

Ingredients

  • 500g mutton, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3-4 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 teaspoons red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 4-5 tablespoons mustard oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. Heat mustard oil in a deep pan and add the chopped onions. Saute until golden brown.
  2. Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies. Cook for a few minutes until the raw smell disappears.
  3. Add the mutton pieces and sauté on high heat until they are well browned.
  4. Reduce the heat and add turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook for a few minutes.
  5. Pour in the water and cover the pan. Cook on low heat until the mutton is tender.
  6. Sprinkle garam masala and cook for another 5 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and serve hot with steamed rice or paratha.
