Spicy Mutton With Banana Blossoms (kosa Mangsho)

Ingredients

  • 500g mutton, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup banana blossoms, thinly sliced
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 tablespoons mustard oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat mustard oil in a pan and add the chopped onions. Sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies. Sauté for a few minutes.
  3. Add the mutton pieces and cook until they are browned.
  4. Stir in the tomato puree, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook for 5-7 minutes.
  5. Add the sliced banana blossoms and mix well. Cook for another 5 minutes.
  6. Pour in enough water to cover the mutton and banana blossoms. Cover and cook on low heat until the mutton is tender.
  7. Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
