Spicy Puffed Rice (crunchy Girmit)

Ingredients

  • 3 cups puffed rice
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, finely chopped
  • 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup peanuts
  • 1/4 cup roasted gram (putani)
  • 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon chaat masala
  • 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oil

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add peanuts and roasted gram, and sauté until they turn crispy.
  3. Add chopped onions, green chilies, and sauté until the onions turn translucent.
  4. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and mix well.
  5. Add chopped tomatoes, tamarind paste, and cook until the tomatoes turn soft.
  6. Add puffed rice, salt, and mix well until the spices are evenly coated.
  7. Turn off the heat and sprinkle chaat masala and chopped coriander leaves. Mix well.
  8. Crunchy Girmit is ready to be served.
