Spicy Sanya Khuna (तातेको सन्या खुना)
तातेको सन्या खुना (Spicy Sanya Khuna) is a traditional Newari dish that is known for its spicy and flavorful taste. It is a popular dish often prepared during festivals and special occasions.
Ingredients
- 500g boneless chicken, cut into small pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 4 tomatoes, pureed
- 3 tbsp mustard oil
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 2 tbsp Sichuan pepper powder
- 1 tbsp cumin powder
- 1 tbsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2-3 dry red chilies
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat mustard oil in a pan and add dry red chilies.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few minutes.
- Add chicken pieces and cook until they turn golden brown.
- Add tomato puree, Sichuan pepper powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Cover and cook on low heat for 30-40 minutes until the chicken is tender.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
