Spicy Shanghai Wontons (辣上海馄饨)

Ingredients

  • 1 pack of wonton wrappers
  • 200g ground pork
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the ground pork, garlic, ginger, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, chili oil, sugar, and white pepper.
  2. Place a small amount of the filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges with water and fold the wrapper to form a triangle, pressing the edges to seal.
  3. In a pot, bring water to a boil and cook the wontons for 4-5 minutes, or until they float to the surface.
  4. In a separate pan, heat vegetable oil and sauté the remaining garlic and green onions. Add chicken broth and bring to a simmer.
  5. Place the cooked wontons in serving bowls and pour the hot broth over them.
