Spicy Shanghai Wontons (辣上海馄饨)
辣上海馄饨 (Spicy Shanghai Wontons) is a popular dish in Haipai Cuisine, known for its delicate wrappers and flavorful filling.
Ingredients
- 1 pack of wonton wrappers
- 200g ground pork
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon chili oil
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the ground pork, garlic, ginger, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, chili oil, sugar, and white pepper.
- Place a small amount of the filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges with water and fold the wrapper to form a triangle, pressing the edges to seal.
- In a pot, bring water to a boil and cook the wontons for 4-5 minutes, or until they float to the surface.
- In a separate pan, heat vegetable oil and sauté the remaining garlic and green onions. Add chicken broth and bring to a simmer.
- Place the cooked wontons in serving bowls and pour the hot broth over them.
