Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons black bean sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Shaoxing wine
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix the black bean sauce, soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, and cornstarch. Set aside.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add the garlic and stir-fry for 30 seconds.
  3. Add the shrimp and stir-fry until they turn pink, about 2-3 minutes. Remove the shrimp from the wok and set aside.
  4. In the same wok, add the bell peppers and green onions. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Return the shrimp to the wok. Add the sugar, sesame oil, and chili flakes. Stir-fry for another minute.
  6. Pour in the chicken broth and the black bean sauce mixture. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens and coats the shrimp and vegetables, about 2-3 minutes.
  7. Transfer to a serving dish and serve hot with steamed rice.
