Ingredients
- 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 tablespoons tamarind pulp
- 4-5 dried red chilies
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken pieces with turmeric powder and salt. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they start to splutter, add dried red chilies, curry leaves, onions, and ginger-garlic paste. Saute until the onions turn golden brown.
- Add the marinated chicken and cook until it turns golden brown.
- In a separate pan, dry roast coriander seeds, cumin seeds, and fenugreek seeds. Grind them into a fine powder.
- Add the ground spice mix, tamarind pulp, and coconut milk to the chicken. Mix well and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes.
- Once the chicken is cooked and the gravy thickens, remove from heat.
