Ingredients
- 1 block of firm tofu, cut into cubes
- 2 tablespoons Sichuan peppercorns
- 3 tablespoons chili oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 cup chicken or vegetable broth
Instructions
- In a dry wok, toast the Sichuan peppercorns over medium heat until fragrant. Remove and crush them using a mortar and pestle.
- Heat the chili oil in the wok over medium heat. Add the garlic and green onions, and stir-fry until fragrant.
- Add the tofu cubes to the wok and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.
- Stir in the soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, and crushed Sichuan peppercorns.
- Pour in the broth and simmer for 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Serve the spicy tofu hot, garnished with additional green onions if desired.
