Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 2 tomatoes, blended into a puree
  • 3 tablespoons chili paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
  2. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, and cook until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the blended tomato puree, chili paste, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, sugar, and salt. Cook the sauce for 10 minutes.
  4. Add the chicken pieces to the sauce and coat them evenly. Cover and cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Once the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened, remove from heat and serve hot.
