Spicy Yomari (मसु योमरी)
Yomari is a traditional Newari delicacy made during the winter season. It is a sweet dumpling filled with chaku (molasses) and sesame seeds. In this recipe, we will give a spicy twist to the classic Yomari by adding some heat to the filling.
Ingredients
- 2 cups rice flour
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup chaku (molasses)
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the rice flour and water to form a smooth dough.
- In a separate bowl, combine the chaku, sesame seeds, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt to make the spicy filling.
- Take a small portion of the dough and flatten it into a small disc. Place a spoonful of the spicy filling in the center and seal the edges to form a dumpling.
- Steam the Yomaris for 15-20 minutes until they are cooked.
- Serve the spicy Yomaris hot and enjoy the delicious twist on this traditional Newari dessert.
