Spinach Pie (plăcintă Cu Spanac)

Ingredients

  • 500g fresh spinach, chopped
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 200g feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 500g puff pastry
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the chopped spinach, onions, feta cheese, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into two equal-sized rectangles.
  4. Place one rectangle of pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Spoon the spinach mixture onto the pastry, leaving a border around the edges.
  6. Place the second rectangle of pastry on top and press the edges to seal.
  7. Brush the top with the beaten egg to create a golden crust.
  8. Make a few small slits on the top to allow steam to escape.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.
  10. Allow the spinach pie to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
