Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a rectangular baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt into the egg mixture. Gently fold in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  4. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until the batter is smooth.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cake is golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Slice and serve the sponge cake as desired.
