Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup suet
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup currants or raisins
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, suet, sugar, currants or raisins, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add the milk and mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a greased pudding basin or bowl.
  4. Cover with a double layer of greased parchment paper and foil, securing with kitchen twine.
  5. Place the pudding basin in a large pot and fill with enough boiling water to reach halfway up the sides of the basin.
  6. Cover the pot and steam the pudding for 1 hour, adding more boiling water as needed.
  7. Once cooked, carefully remove the pudding basin from the pot and let it cool slightly before unmolding.
  8. Serve the spotted dick with custard and enjoy!
