Squid Masala
Squid Masala is a flavorful and aromatic dish from the Mangalurean Catholic Cuisine, known for its rich and spicy flavors. This dish is a perfect combination of tender squid and a blend of traditional Indian spices, creating a mouthwatering delicacy.
Ingredients
- 500g squid, cleaned and cut into rings
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, pureed
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp red chili powder
- 1 tbsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, and sauté for a few minutes.
- Next, add the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates.
- Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the cleaned squid rings and cook for 5-7 minutes until the squid is tender.
- Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or Indian bread.
