Steamed Dumplings (manty)
Steamed Dumplings, known as Manty, are a popular dish in Kazakh cuisine. These delicious dumplings are filled with seasoned meat and steamed to perfection, resulting in a juicy and flavorful filling encased in a soft and tender dough.
Ingredients
- 500g ground beef
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/4 cup water
- 500g all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 250ml warm water
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, onions, garlic, salt, black pepper, cumin, and water to make the filling.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add the warm water and knead the dough until smooth. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
- Roll out the dough and cut it into circles. Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each circle and pinch the edges to seal the dumplings.
- Place the dumplings in a steamer and steam for 20-25 minutes, or until the dough is cooked through.
