Steamed Dumplings, known as Manty, are a popular dish in Kazakh cuisine. These delicious dumplings are filled with seasoned meat and steamed to perfection, resulting in a juicy and flavorful filling encased in a soft and tender dough.

Ingredients

  • 500g ground beef
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 500g all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 250ml warm water

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, onions, garlic, salt, black pepper, cumin, and water to make the filling.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add the warm water and knead the dough until smooth. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
  3. Roll out the dough and cut it into circles. Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each circle and pinch the edges to seal the dumplings.
  4. Place the dumplings in a steamer and steam for 20-25 minutes, or until the dough is cooked through.
