Steamed Dumplings with Scallion Oil (葱油饺子)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 2 cups chopped scallions
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 package round dumpling wrappers
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the ground pork, chopped scallions, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and white pepper until well combined.
  2. Place a small amount of the pork mixture in the center of each dumpling wrapper. Moisten the edges with water, then fold and pleat to seal the dumplings.
  3. Prepare a steamer and line it with parchment paper. Arrange the dumplings in the steamer, making sure they are not touching each other.
  4. Steam the dumplings for 12-15 minutes until cooked through.
  5. While the dumplings are steaming, heat the vegetable oil in a small saucepan until hot. Pour the hot oil over the chopped scallions to create scallion oil.
