Ingredients
- 1 whole fresh fish (such as sea bass or snapper), cleaned and scaled
- 3 slices ginger
- 2 green onions, cut into strips
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Shaoxing wine
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Place the fish on a heatproof dish and scatter the ginger slices on top.
- Steam the fish over high heat for about 10-12 minutes, or until cooked through.
- While the fish is steaming, mix the soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, sesame oil, sugar, and salt in a small bowl.
- Once the fish is cooked, carefully remove it from the steamer and pour off any accumulated liquid.
- Top the fish with the green onion strips, then pour the sauce over the fish.
- Heat a small amount of oil in a pan until it just begins to smoke, then carefully pour the hot oil over the green onions to release their aroma.
- Serve the fish hot with steamed rice.
