Ingredients

  • 4 fillets of white fish (such as tilapia or cod)
  • 3 tablespoons mustard oil
  • 4 tablespoons mustard paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2-3 green chilies, slit lengthwise
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together mustard oil, mustard paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, and sugar to make a marinade.
  2. Coat the fish fillets with the marinade and let them sit for 10 minutes.
  3. Place the marinated fish in a steaming dish and add slit green chilies on top.
  4. Pour water into the steaming dish.
  5. Cover the dish with a lid and steam the fish for 15-20 minutes until it is cooked through.
  6. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
