Ingredients
- 4 pieces of hilsa fish
- 4 tablespoons mustard paste
- 1 tablespoon mustard oil
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon yogurt
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 tablespoon mustard seeds
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
- 4-5 tablespoons water
Instructions
- Clean and wash the hilsa fish pieces. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
- In a bowl, mix mustard paste, mustard oil, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, and yogurt to make the mustard sauce.
- Coat the fish pieces with the mustard sauce and let them marinate for 15 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix mustard seeds, poppy seeds, and water to make a paste.
- Place the marinated fish pieces in a steaming dish and pour the mustard seed paste over them. Add slit green chilies on top.
- Cover the dish and steam the fish for about 20-25 minutes until cooked through.
- Once done, serve the Steamed Mustard Hilsa with Mustard Sauce hot with steamed rice.
