Steamed Rice Cake, also known as Bhapa Pitha, is a traditional delicacy from Sylheti Cuisine. This soft and spongy cake is made with rice flour, jaggery, and coconut, and is steamed to perfection.

Steamed Rice Cake (bhapa Pitha)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups rice flour
  • 1 cup jaggery, grated
  • 1 cup coconut, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the rice flour, grated jaggery, grated coconut, and salt.
  2. Add water gradually and mix to form a smooth batter.
  3. Pour the batter into greased cake molds or small bowls.
  4. Place the molds in a steamer and steam for 30 minutes.
  5. Once done, remove the steamed rice cakes from the molds and let them cool before serving.
