Zhēng Hǎixiāo Jiǎo, also known as Steamed Seafood Dumplings, is a popular dish in Tianjin Cuisine. These delicious dumplings are filled with a flavorful mixture of seafood and wrapped in a delicate, thin dough.

Steamed Seafood Dumplings (Zhēng Hǎixiāo Jiǎo)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 pound scallops
  • 1/4 cup water chestnuts, finely chopped
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • 24 round dumpling wrappers

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, pulse the shrimp and scallops until coarsely chopped.
  2. Transfer the chopped seafood to a bowl and add water chestnuts, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and white pepper. Mix well.
  3. Place a small spoonful of the seafood mixture in the center of each dumpling wrapper. Wet the edges of the wrapper with water and fold in half, pressing to seal.
  4. Arrange the dumplings in a steamer basket and steam for 10-12 minutes until cooked through.
