Steamed Seafood Dumplings (Zhēng Hǎixiāo Jiǎo)
Zhēng Hǎixiāo Jiǎo, also known as Steamed Seafood Dumplings, is a popular dish in Tianjin Cuisine. These delicious dumplings are filled with a flavorful mixture of seafood and wrapped in a delicate, thin dough.
Ingredients
- 1/2 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 pound scallops
- 1/4 cup water chestnuts, finely chopped
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
- 24 round dumpling wrappers
Instructions
- In a food processor, pulse the shrimp and scallops until coarsely chopped.
- Transfer the chopped seafood to a bowl and add water chestnuts, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and white pepper. Mix well.
- Place a small spoonful of the seafood mixture in the center of each dumpling wrapper. Wet the edges of the wrapper with water and fold in half, pressing to seal.
- Arrange the dumplings in a steamer basket and steam for 10-12 minutes until cooked through.
