Steamed Shrimp (bhapa Chingri)

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh shrimp, cleaned and deveined
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon mustard paste
  • 1/2 cup grated coconut
  • 2 green chilies, slit lengthwise
  • 1/2 cup mustard oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the cleaned shrimp with turmeric powder, red chili powder, mustard paste, grated coconut, green chilies, mustard oil, and salt. Let it marinate for 10 minutes.
  2. Transfer the marinated shrimp mixture to a heatproof bowl or plate suitable for steaming.
  3. Prepare a steamer and bring the water to a boil. Place the bowl/plate with the shrimp mixture in the steamer.
  4. Cover and steam for about 15-20 minutes or until the shrimp is cooked through.
  5. Once done, remove from the steamer and serve hot with steamed rice.
