Steamed Shrimp Dumplings (虾饺)
虾饺 (Steamed Shrimp Dumplings) are a classic dish in Jiangsu Cuisine, known for their delicate wrappers and flavorful shrimp filling.
Ingredients
- 1/2 pound fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/4 cup water chestnuts, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup bamboo shoots, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
- 1 tablespoon green onion, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
- 20 round dumpling wrappers
Instructions
- In a food processor, pulse the shrimp until finely chopped.
- Transfer the chopped shrimp to a bowl and add water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, ginger, green onion, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and white pepper. Mix well.
- Place a small spoonful of the shrimp mixture in the center of each dumpling wrapper. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water, then fold and pleat to seal the dumplings.
- Arrange the dumplings in a steamer lined with parchment paper and steam for 8-10 minutes until cooked through.
