Steamed Shrimp Dumplings (虾饺)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 cup water chestnuts, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup bamboo shoots, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon green onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • 20 round dumpling wrappers

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, pulse the shrimp until finely chopped.
  2. Transfer the chopped shrimp to a bowl and add water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, ginger, green onion, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and white pepper. Mix well.
  3. Place a small spoonful of the shrimp mixture in the center of each dumpling wrapper. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water, then fold and pleat to seal the dumplings.
  4. Arrange the dumplings in a steamer lined with parchment paper and steam for 8-10 minutes until cooked through.
