Ingredients
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tablespoon mustard oil
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons yogurt
- 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed citrus juice (lemon, lime, or shatkora)
- 2-3 green chilies, sliced
- 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the shrimp with mustard oil, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well to coat the shrimp evenly.
- Add the yogurt, citrus juice, green chilies, and chopped cilantro to the bowl. Mix gently to combine all the ingredients.
- Transfer the marinated shrimp mixture to a heatproof dish or a steaming basket.
- Prepare a steamer or a large pot with a steaming rack. Add enough water to create steam, but not so much that it touches the shrimp.
- Place the dish or steaming basket with the shrimp in the steamer or pot. Cover and steam for 10-12 minutes, or until the shrimp are cooked through.
- Once done, remove from the steamer and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
