Steamed Sticky Rice with Chicken (糯米鸡)

Ingredients

  • 500g boneless chicken thighs, cut into small pieces
  • 2 cups glutinous rice, soaked for 4 hours
  • 3 slices ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon Shaoxing wine (optional)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken with soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, salt, white pepper, and Shaoxing wine for 20 minutes.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a pan, sauté ginger and garlic until fragrant.
  3. Add the marinated chicken and cook until it changes color. Remove from heat and mix in the chopped green onions.
  4. Rinse the soaked glutinous rice and drain well. Mix in sesame oil.
  5. Grease a deep plate or a shallow bowl, then spread a layer of glutinous rice at the bottom.
  6. Place the cooked chicken on top of the rice, then cover with the remaining rice.
  7. Steam over high heat for 40-45 minutes until the rice is cooked through.
  8. Serve the steamed sticky rice with chicken hot and enjoy!
