Steamed Stuffed Tofu (Zhēng Bǎo Dòufu)

Ingredients

  • 1 block of firm tofu
  • 100g ground pork
  • 1/2 cup chopped mushrooms
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the tofu by cutting it into thick slices and hollowing out the center to create a pocket for the filling.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the ground pork, chopped mushrooms, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, salt, black pepper, and green onions to create the filling.
  3. Stuff the tofu pockets with the filling mixture.
  4. Place the stuffed tofu in a steaming basket and steam over high heat for 20-25 minutes, or until the tofu is cooked through.
  5. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan and pour it over the steamed tofu before serving.
