Steamed Sweet Yogurt (bhapa Doi)
Bhapa Doi, also known as Steamed Sweet Yogurt, is a traditional dessert from Sylheti Cuisine. This creamy and sweet dessert is a popular treat in Bangladesh and is often served during special occasions and festivals.
Ingredients
- 2 cups plain yogurt
- 1 cup condensed milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
- 2 tablespoons chopped nuts (almonds, pistachios, or cashews)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together the plain yogurt, condensed milk, sugar, and cardamom powder until smooth.
- Pour the mixture into individual ramekins or a heatproof dish.
- Sprinkle the chopped nuts on top of the yogurt mixture.
- Place the ramekins or dish in a steamer and steam for 30 minutes.
- Once done, remove from the steamer and let it cool to room temperature.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
