Bhapa Doi, also known as Steamed Sweet Yogurt, is a traditional dessert from Sylheti Cuisine. This creamy and sweet dessert is a popular treat in Bangladesh and is often served during special occasions and festivals.

Steamed Sweet Yogurt (bhapa Doi)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups plain yogurt
  • 1 cup condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 2 tablespoons chopped nuts (almonds, pistachios, or cashews)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together the plain yogurt, condensed milk, sugar, and cardamom powder until smooth.
  2. Pour the mixture into individual ramekins or a heatproof dish.
  3. Sprinkle the chopped nuts on top of the yogurt mixture.
  4. Place the ramekins or dish in a steamer and steam for 30 minutes.
  5. Once done, remove from the steamer and let it cool to room temperature.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
