Stewed Goat With Dumplings
Stewed Goat with Dumplings is a traditional dish from St. Kitts and Nevis that is hearty, flavorful, and perfect for a comforting meal.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs goat meat, cut into chunks
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 2 sprigs thyme
- 2 cups beef or vegetable broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- Season the goat meat with salt and pepper.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the goat meat and brown on all sides.
- Add the onion, garlic, tomatoes, and thyme to the pot. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Pour in the broth and bring to a simmer. Cover and cook for 1.5 hours, or until the goat meat is tender.
- In a bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add water and knead to form a dough.
- Pinch off pieces of the dough and roll into small balls to make the dumplings.
- Add the dumplings to the pot with the stewed goat. Cover and cook for an additional 20 minutes until the dumplings are cooked through.
- Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper if needed. Serve the stewed goat with dumplings hot.
