Ingredients
- 1 lb pork belly, cut into small pieces
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 shallots, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup rice wine
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 star anise
- 2 cups water
- 4 cups steamed white rice
Instructions
- In a large pot, cook the pork belly over medium heat until it starts to release its fat.
- Add the garlic and shallots, and cook until fragrant.
- Pour in the soy sauce, rice wine, and sugar. Stir to combine.
- Add the star anise and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 hour, or until the pork is tender and the sauce has thickened.
- To serve, spoon the stewed pork over bowls of steamed white rice.
