Ingredients
- 1 lotus root, peeled and sliced into 1-inch thick rounds
- 1 cup glutinous rice, soaked in water for 2 hours
- 1/4 cup dried shrimp, soaked in water for 30 minutes and finely chopped
- 2 Chinese sausages, diced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together the soaked glutinous rice, dried shrimp, Chinese sausages, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, salt, white pepper, and green onions.
- Stuff the glutinous rice mixture into the hollowed-out center of each lotus root round.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Place the stuffed lotus root rounds in the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until lightly browned.
- Add 1 cup of water to the pan, cover, and simmer for 30-40 minutes, or until the rice is cooked through and the lotus root is tender.
- Remove from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
