Stir-Fried Beef with Black Pepper (黑椒牛肉炒)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) beef, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 3 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) beef broth
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Marinate the beef with soy sauce and cornstarch for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add the beef and stir-fry until browned. Remove from the wok and set aside.
  3. Heat the remaining oil in the wok. Add the onion, garlic, and bell pepper. Stir-fry until fragrant.
  4. Return the beef to the wok. Add oyster sauce, black pepper, sugar, and beef broth. Stir-fry until the sauce thickens.
  5. Season with salt to taste and serve hot.
