Stir-Fried Tofu with Lemongrass (Cha Traop Doung K'tieu)
Cha Traop Doung K'tieu, or Stir-Fried Tofu with Lemongrass, is a classic Cambodian dish that is bursting with flavor. The combination of lemongrass, tofu, and aromatic spices makes this dish a favorite among both vegetarians and meat-eaters.
Ingredients
- 1 block of firm tofu, drained and cubed
- 2 stalks of lemongrass, finely chopped
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the garlic and lemongrass, and stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the tofu and cook for 5-7 minutes until lightly browned.
- Add the onion and bell pepper, and stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, sugar, and black pepper. Pour this sauce over the tofu and vegetables, and stir to combine.
- Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Remove from heat and garnish with fresh cilantro.
