Stroganov (gagauz-style Beef Stroganoff)
Stroganov is a traditional Gagauz dish that features tender beef in a rich and creamy sauce, served over egg noodles. This recipe offers a delicious twist on the classic Beef Stroganoff, incorporating flavors and techniques from Gagauz cuisine.
Ingredients
- 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup sour cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 12 oz egg noodles, cooked according to package instructions
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef slices and cook until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil in the same skillet. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until softened.
- Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they release their juices and become tender.
- Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer. Return the cooked beef to the skillet.
- Stir in the sour cream and simmer for a few minutes until the sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the beef stroganoff over cooked egg noodles.
