Stromboli
Stromboli is a delicious Italian-American dish that is similar to a calzone or a rolled-up pizza. It's a great way to enjoy all your favorite pizza toppings in a convenient handheld form.
Ingredients
- 1 pound pizza dough
- 1/2 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup sliced pepperoni
- 1/4 cup sliced black olives
- 1/4 cup diced green bell pepper
- 1/4 cup diced red onion
- 1/4 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
- Spread the marinara sauce over the dough, leaving a border around the edges.
- Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the sauce, then layer the pepperoni, olives, bell pepper, red onion, and mushrooms on top.
- Starting from one long edge, roll the dough up tightly, pinching the ends to seal.
- Place the stromboli seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush the top of the stromboli with the beaten egg wash.
- Using a sharp knife, make a few small slits in the top of the stromboli to allow steam to escape.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the stromboli is golden brown and the dough is cooked through.
- Let it cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve.
