Stromboli

Stromboli is a delicious Italian-American dish that is similar to a calzone or a rolled-up pizza. It's a great way to enjoy all your favorite pizza toppings in a convenient handheld form.

Stromboli

Ingredients

  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/4 cup diced green bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup diced red onion
  • 1/4 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
  3. Spread the marinara sauce over the dough, leaving a border around the edges.
  4. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the sauce, then layer the pepperoni, olives, bell pepper, red onion, and mushrooms on top.
  5. Starting from one long edge, roll the dough up tightly, pinching the ends to seal.
  6. Place the stromboli seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Brush the top of the stromboli with the beaten egg wash.
  8. Using a sharp knife, make a few small slits in the top of the stromboli to allow steam to escape.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the stromboli is golden brown and the dough is cooked through.
  10. Let it cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve.
