Strumica Style Stuffed Cabbage Rolls (Струмички сарми)
Струмички сарми (Strumica Style Stuffed Cabbage Rolls) are a traditional Macedonian dish that features cabbage leaves stuffed with a flavorful mixture of rice and ground meat, cooked to perfection in a savory tomato sauce.
Ingredients

- 1 cup rice
- 500g ground meat (beef or pork)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried mint
- Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the outer leaves of the cabbage and blanch them in the boiling water for a few minutes until they are pliable. Remove and set aside.
- In a bowl, mix together the rice, ground meat, onion, garlic, paprika, mint, salt, and pepper.
- Place a spoonful of the meat mixture onto each cabbage leaf and roll them up, tucking in the sides to secure the filling.
- Heat some vegetable oil in a large pot and arrange the stuffed cabbage rolls in a single layer.
- Pour the crushed tomatoes over the rolls, add water to cover, and season with salt and pepper.
- Cover and simmer over low heat for about 2 hours, or until the cabbage is tender and the filling is cooked through.
