Stuffed Cabbage Rolls (Plnené kapustové rolky)

Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 2 cups beef or vegetable broth

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the outer leaves of the cabbage and blanch them in the boiling water for 2-3 minutes until they are pliable. Remove and set aside to cool.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the ground pork, cooked rice, onion, garlic, paprika, caraway seeds, salt, and pepper.
  3. Place a spoonful of the meat mixture onto each cabbage leaf and roll them up, tucking in the sides as you go.
  4. In a large pot, combine the tomato sauce and broth. Place the cabbage rolls in the pot, cover, and simmer for 1 hour.
  5. Serve the stuffed cabbage rolls hot, spooning some of the tomato sauce over the top.
