Stuffed Calamari (goan Style Stuffed Squid)
Stuffed Calamari, also known as Goan Style Stuffed Squid, is a delicious and flavorful dish from the coastal region of Goa, India. This dish is a perfect blend of spices and seafood, making it a popular choice among seafood lovers.
Ingredients
- 4 medium-sized squid, cleaned and tentacles reserved
- 1 cup cooked basmati rice
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan and sauté the onion until translucent.
- Add the tomatoes, green chilies, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.
- Add the cooked rice and garam masala. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- Stuff the squid tubes with the prepared rice mixture and secure the open ends with toothpicks.
- Heat the remaining oil in a pan and add the stuffed squid along with the reserved tentacles. Cook for 5-7 minutes on each side until the squid is cooked through and lightly browned.
- Once cooked, remove the toothpicks and serve the stuffed calamari hot, garnished with fresh coriander leaves.
