Stuffed Choyla (भर्का चोयला)

भर्का चोयला (Stuffed Choyla) is a traditional Newari dish that is popular in Nepal. It is made with marinated meat that is grilled to perfection, giving it a smoky and spicy flavor.

Stuffed Choyla (भर्का चोयला)

Ingredients

  • 500g boneless chicken, cut into cubes
  • 2 tbsp mustard oil
  • 2 tbsp yogurt
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 4-5 green chilies, chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the mustard oil, yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt to make the marinade.
  2. Add the chicken cubes to the marinade and mix well. Let it marinate for at least 2 hours in the refrigerator.
  3. After marination, stuff the marinated chicken cubes with green chilies and onions.
  4. Heat a grill or stovetop grill pan over medium heat. Grill the stuffed chicken cubes until they are cooked through and have a nice char on the outside.
  5. Once grilled, transfer the chicken to a serving plate, sprinkle lemon juice, and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
