Stuffed Grape Leaves (armenian Dolma)

Ingredients

  • 1 jar of grape leaves
  • 1 cup of rice
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup of fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup of fresh dill, chopped
  • 1/4 cup of fresh mint, chopped
  • 1/4 cup of olive oil
  • 1/4 cup of lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Rinse the grape leaves under cold water and drain well.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the rice, onion, parsley, dill, mint, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  3. Place a grape leaf flat on a work surface, shiny side down. Place a spoonful of the rice mixture in the center of the leaf.
  4. Fold the bottom of the leaf over the filling, then fold in the sides, and roll up tightly.
  5. Repeat with the remaining grape leaves and filling.
  6. Place the stuffed grape leaves in a large pot, seam side down, and add enough water to cover them.
  7. Place a plate on top of the grape leaves to keep them submerged, then cover the pot and simmer for 1 hour.
  8. Remove the stuffed grape leaves from the pot and let them cool before serving.
