Stuffed Grape Leaves (armenian Dolma)
Stuffed grape leaves, also known as Armenian Dolma, are a classic dish in Caucasian cuisine. These flavorful and aromatic grape leaves are filled with a delicious mixture of rice, herbs, and spices, making them a perfect appetizer or main course.
Ingredients
- 1 jar of grape leaves
- 1 cup of rice
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup of fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 cup of fresh dill, chopped
- 1/4 cup of fresh mint, chopped
- 1/4 cup of olive oil
- 1/4 cup of lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Rinse the grape leaves under cold water and drain well.
- In a large bowl, combine the rice, onion, parsley, dill, mint, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
- Place a grape leaf flat on a work surface, shiny side down. Place a spoonful of the rice mixture in the center of the leaf.
- Fold the bottom of the leaf over the filling, then fold in the sides, and roll up tightly.
- Repeat with the remaining grape leaves and filling.
- Place the stuffed grape leaves in a large pot, seam side down, and add enough water to cover them.
- Place a plate on top of the grape leaves to keep them submerged, then cover the pot and simmer for 1 hour.
- Remove the stuffed grape leaves from the pot and let them cool before serving.
