Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs beef chuck, cut into chunks
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 3 carrots, sliced
  • 3 parsnips, sliced
  • 4 potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Water

Instructions

  1. Place the beef chunks, onions, carrots, parsnips, potatoes, bay leaves, and caraway seeds in a large pot.
  2. Season with salt and pepper, then add enough water to cover all the ingredients.
  3. Cover the pot and bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 2 hours, or until the meat is tender.
  5. Remove the bay leaves and adjust the seasoning if needed.
  6. Serve the Styrian Root Meat hot, with some of the cooking broth.
