Suitsetatud forelli ja kartulivorm, or Smoked Trout and Potato Casserole, is a traditional Estonian dish that combines the rich flavors of smoked trout with hearty potatoes in a comforting casserole.
Ingredients
- 500g potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 250g smoked trout, flaked
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 eggs
- 200ml heavy cream
- 50g butter, melted
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish.
- Top with half of the flaked smoked trout and sliced onion.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, trout, and onion.
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, melted butter, salt, and pepper.
- Pour the egg mixture over the layered potatoes and trout.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the top is golden and the potatoes are tender.
- Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving.
