Padişah Pilavı, also known as Sultan's Pilaf, is a classic Turkish rice dish fit for royalty. This aromatic and flavorful pilaf is a staple in Turkish cuisine and is perfect for special occasions or as a main dish for a festive meal.
Ingredients
- 2 cups long-grain rice
- 3 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup vermicelli noodles
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
- Add the vermicelli noodles and continue to cook until golden brown.
- Stir in the rice and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Pour in the broth, add salt and pepper, and bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
- Fluff the pilaf with a fork before serving.
