Sumac Lemonade (عصير السماق بالليمون)
Sumac lemonade is a refreshing and tangy drink that is popular in Palestinian cuisine. It's perfect for hot summer days and gatherings with family and friends.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sumac
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice cubes
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine the sumac, sugar, and 1 cup of water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- Strain the sumac syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a pitcher.
- Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice and 4 cups of cold water to the pitcher. Stir well to combine.
- Refrigerate the sumac lemonade for at least 1 hour to chill.
- Serve the sumac lemonade over ice cubes and garnish with lemon slices, if desired.
