Ingredients
- 5 cups crushed strawberries
- 7 cups granulated sugar
- 1 box Sure Jell fruit pectin
- 1/2 teaspoon butter (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare jars and lids by sterilizing them in boiling water. Keep them warm until ready to use.
- In a large pot, combine the crushed strawberries and Sure Jell fruit pectin. Stir well.
- Place the pot on the stove and bring the mixture to a full rolling boil over high heat, stirring constantly.
- Add the granulated sugar all at once and return the mixture to a full rolling boil, stirring constantly. Boil for exactly 1 minute, then remove from heat.
- If there is any foam on top of the jam, skim it off with a metal spoon. Stir in the optional butter to reduce foaming.
- Ladle the hot jam into the prepared jars, leaving 1/4 inch of headspace. Wipe the jar rims and threads with a clean, damp cloth. Cover with lids and screw bands tightly.
- Process the jars in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes. Remove the jars and let them cool, then check the seals.
