Ingredients

  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°F (95°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the egg whites on high speed until soft peaks form.
  3. Gradually add the sugar, vanilla extract, and cream of tartar while continuing to beat the mixture until stiff peaks form.
  4. Using a piping bag or spoon, drop small mounds of the meringue onto the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 2 hours, or until the suspiros are dry and crisp on the outside.
  6. Allow the suspiros to cool completely before serving.
