  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup milk, warmed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm milk. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in the sugar, melted butter, cardamom, and salt. Gradually mix in the flour to form a dough.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour.
  4. Roll out the dough into a large rectangle. Spread the softened butter over the dough and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Roll up the dough tightly and cut into 12 equal pieces. Place the buns on a baking sheet, cover, and let them rise for 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake the buns for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
