Svenska Kardemummabullar (swedish Cardamom Buns)
Svenska kardemummabullar, also known as Swedish Cardamom Buns, are a popular pastry in Nordic cuisine. These sweet and aromatic buns are perfect for fika, the Swedish tradition of taking a break for coffee and a snack.

- 1 cup milk, warmed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp ground cardamom
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm milk. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in the sugar, melted butter, cardamom, and salt. Gradually mix in the flour to form a dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Roll out the dough into a large rectangle. Spread the softened butter over the dough and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll up the dough tightly and cut into 12 equal pieces. Place the buns on a baking sheet, cover, and let them rise for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake the buns for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
